You just received a low-rate vacation loan from InvesTex to enjoy family fun in the sun on a beautiful Virgin Island but realized your passport has expired. You leave in two weeks. What do you do? According to eHow.com, follow these 6 easy steps to get a passport quickly.
Step1
Get two identical 2-by-2-inch (5-by-5-cm) passport photos. Look under "Passport Photos" in the Yellow Pages or online using your favorite search engine for the nearest instant-photo service.
Step2
Contact the National Passport Information Center by looking it up in your local phone book or by typing in the exact phrase "National Passport Information Center" at your favorite search engine. Explain your situation, and ask them where your nearest passport office is located. You can also look under "Passports" in the "U.S. Government Offices" section of your phone book.
Step3
Call the closest passport office immediately and make an appointment. If you do not have a passport already, you must apply in person. If you are renewing your passport, you may be able to do so by mail. Check with the National Passport Information Center.
Step4
Take along your airline tickets or airline-generated itinerary to prove your need for speed. Bring the photos and your old passport--or, if you don't have one, your birth certificate and a valid driver's license.
Step5
Prepare to pay extra for expedited service and overnight shipping, especially if you are leaving within two weeks. If you're departing sooner than 14 days, there's a good chance you may not get your passport in time. Discuss this with the passport office and consider rescheduling your flight.
Step6
Make a copy of your passport's identification page along with two passport-size photos and bring them with you, in case you need to apply for an emergency passport replacement while traveling abroad. If you lose your passport, visit the nearest U.S. consulate as soon as possible for a replacement.
Always be careful when traveling. Use your InvesTex Visa Check Card which is protected by the “Verified by Visa” program. Also, be sure to sign for transactions rather than use your PIN on large transactions to benefit from Visa's zero liability for fraudulent purchases policy. This benefit is only available on signature-based transactions. Enjoy your travels.
